The upcoming edition of Dutch Double Bass Festival takes place on the 29th and 30th of October in Theater Zuidplein, Rotterdam. The next edition is on October 29 and 30, 2021.
Previous editions, in 2017 and 2019 have seen performances by, among others; Gary Karr with the Matangi Quartet, John Patitucci, Adam Ben Ezra, The Basses of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, The Basses of the Rotterdam Philharmonic with Edicson Ruiz, Renaud Garcia-Fons, Richard Bona, Omer Avital, Nicolas Crosse and Ernst Glerum. James Oesi, well known for his performances of Bach on the double bass is the artistic director of the festival.

Via Rotterdam city centre: from the Maastunnel or Erasmus bridge follow signs for ‘Zuidplein’.
From Amsterdam, The Hague (A13): follow signs for ‘Centrum’ and ‘Maastunnel. After the Maastunnel proceed straight and follow signs for ‘Zuidplein’. After the Maastunnel, drive straight ahead and follow ‘Zuidplein’.
From Utrecht (A20, A16): from the Van Brienenoord bridge, drive past De Kuip and follow ‘Zuidplein’.
From Vlissingen, Dordrecht, Breda (A16, A15, A29): via the Drecht tunnel, from Rijksweg exit Vaanweg. Follow signs for ‘Zuidplein’. Follow the signs ‘Zuidplein’.
From Brielle: arrive via Zuiderparkweg, exit at Ahoy – direction Zuidplein.

By Public Transport
METRO
From Rotterdam Central Station travel on metro line D (direction De Akkers) or metro line E (direction Slinge). Alight at station Zuidplein. Theater Zuidplein is situated across the street from the bus station. Plan your journey via 9292.nl.

There are various bus connections to and from Zuidplein within Rotterdam and the Rijnmond region. Theater Zuidplein is situated across the street from the bus station. Plan your journey via 9292.nl.
By Bicycle
Theater Zuidplein is more accessible by bicycle than first meets the eye. Plan your bicycle journey to Theater Zuidplein here. Be aware that bicycles not parked in designated bicycle parking may be confiscated by the police. Always park your bicycle in the designated bicycle parking locations or in the free covered bicycle parking in Winkelcentrum Zuidplein.
There is sufficient (paid) parking around Theater Zuidplein. Parking garage Q-Park Zuidplein is situated at walking distance from Theater Zuidplein. This parking garage has 1300 parking spaces and is accessible 24/7.
A Park and Ride terrain is situated at metro station Slinge which allows for free parking for up to 72 hours in combination with public transport. Metro station Slinge is just one stop away from Zuidplein metro station.
There are 6 available parking spaces for disabled parking near the Annie M.G. Schmidtplein, behind Swim centre Rotterdam (Van Swietenlaan). You may only park here if you are in possession of a valid disabled parking card.
To provide safety for all visitors and to comply with the government regulations surrounding Covid-19 and festivals we will be working with a corona access pass. This means that you will need a CoronaCheck pass provided by the Dutch Government. This pass serves as proof of vaccination, recent negative PCR test, or recent recovery. The Corona access pass can be obtained either via the corona check app or, alternatively, a paper pass can be printed out via coronacheck.nl.
Theater Zuidplein has several passenger lifts, disabled toilets and wheelchair spaces. This makes the theatre easily accessible for the disabled. Wheelchair spaces are available in all of the halls.
A large offering of snacks, meals (including vegetarian options) is available at Dutch Double Bass Festival. This of course includes many drink options available at the various catering locations throughout Theater Zuidplein!
